Online courses courses are an excellent addition to any educational experience--if you know how to pick them. In this workshop we cover what to look for in online courses, how to evaluate online providers, and how to help your student succeed in class. We'll also talk about student preparedness, because even the best students won't do well in online classes if they aren't ready.

Julia Collier

Julia Collier is the Dean of the Well-Trained Mind Academy.  She has her PhD in American Studies from the College of William & Mary.  She earned her BA and MA at New York University, concentrating on English and American Literature, Creative Writing, and Art History. Julia has held teaching positions at the College of William & Mary, Christopher Newport University, and Thomas Nelson Community College. Julia was a professor of writing at Virginia Commonwealth University before joining the Academy full-time in 2016.
